Candis Nergaard
Candis Nergaard is an English actor and writer. She is known for Grantchester, appearing alongside James Norton; Stuart: A Life Backwards, her film debut alongside Tom Hardy; Call the Midwife alongside Miranda Hart, and numerous other TV credits including The Bill, EastEnders, The Interceptor, Glue, Affinity and others. Candis started her acting career in Brecht and Marlowe plays and had a lead role in Patrick Marber's Closer at the Miskin Theatre. Candis continues to work on stage in venues such as The Royal Court and regularly appears in television, film and radio. She was nominated 'Best Actress' at the inaugural BBC Audio Drama Awards 2012 for 'Atchin Tan' (Stopping Place) for a critically acclaimed role as Romany Gypsy Lovinia Arkley.
Candis has worked on Peaky Blinders since series 3 as Romany language translator and cultural advisor for this multiple BAFTA award winning hit series. Other film credits include The Firm, White Chamber, Gone to Ground, and most recently the lead role in The Heiress.
