Elsi Eng
Elsi Eng is an actor with diverse talents on and off camera. Besides excelling in a wide range of dance and martial arts styles, Elsi can do multiple accents in both English and Mandarin with perfect pitch fluency and idiomatic ease.
That's why Disney chose her as the voice for an electronic storybook for Disney Mandarin: Toy Story 3, And why Elsi was picked to voice the role Kaori, played by Lika Minamoto, opposite Asian crossover star Michelle Yeoh (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Crazy Rich Asians) in the 2013 South Korean drama, Final Recipe. She made her U.S. TV debut that same year appearing on HBO's True Blood as a vampire. Those roles led to guest appearances on leading Chinese television shows on Dragon TV and Jiangsu TV, where Elsi was introduced to Chinese audiences.
Being at home in two cultures comes naturally. Beijing-born Elsi grew up there and in Vancouver, Canada, where she immersed herself in dance (classical, hip-hop), piano (Royal Conservatory), singing (pop and beat box), sports (tennis, badminton, ice-skating and swimming) and modeling and entering (and winning) beauty pageants.
After getting a B.A. in Psychology at the University of British Columbia, Elsi went all in on mastering her performing skills. She moved to Los Angeles and got an M.F.A. in Acting for Film at the New York Film Academy. Studies for stage and screen have also included Meisner, voice over/ADR, comedy/improv, and stage combat (hand-to-hand, wooden sword, sais, MMA, T'ai Chi).
Elsi has also created a one-woman show, adapting a fairy character from Classic Chinese Novel Dream of The Red Chamber, and written, produced and directed a short film, Searching, about an artist lost in her masks, and trapped in time, searching for herself.
