Gabriela Amerth
Gabriela Amerth is a Brazilian actress, singer and writer who was born and raised in Engenho de Dentro, Rio de Janeiro. She started taking acting classes at 11 years old, and has starred in multiple plays back in her hometown. She moved to NYC in the end of 2016.
Gabi attended a 6-weeks acting program and after that, she transferred to an English school and started hustling to stay in the country. Gabriela was a salesperson in a jewelry booth in Grand Central, the Oculus and Holiday markets, as well as a restaurant host, dog-walker and a babysitter for over 3 years.
After saving just enough money, she took a Summer program at the Neighborhood Playhouse. It was also during this time that she created her micro short film A N X I E T Y, in order to try and give a positive outlet to her feelings. The short ended up being selected to a few festivals and won her a $2500 Grand Jury Prize. With that money, she bought enough gear to start working as a Photographer and Videographer.
During the pandemic, she became a permanent resident and started auditioning independently. After approximately 70 auditions, she got her first yes from Elaine Del Valle, and went on to film the SXSW winner Brownsville Bred. Meanwhile, she got a job as a daylight studio manager and, alongside her media gigs, changed her main source of income.
Gabi is building her path, one step at a time. And while she still have big dreams, her idea of happiness is now a life in which she can life out of acting jobs, surrounded by respectful people and with enough financial resources to help others and bring her family and friends to visit often.
