Gary Spate hails from in Grimsby, Lincolnshire, UK He is the son of former Turning Point Television (TPTV) chairman Glyn Spate. Gary made his directing debut in 2004 on the TV series 'In Focus' a TPTV-produced disability awareness magazine show broadcasting on local TV. He also directed his first short film "What on Earth?" in 2004 which came 5th in that year's Meniscus Film Festival Short Film Competition. Gary's interest in filmmaking started at a young age but meeting Lord David Puttnam at the official opening of the Channel 7 Television studios in 1996 fueled his passion and he actively pursued a career in the industry by enrolling on several filmmaking and television production courses at the Grimsby Institute (GIFHE). In 2013 Gary was part of the film crew that shot the band Wheatus' UK tour for the "Wheatus: You Might Die" documentary and in 2014 he was heavily involved in the making of Steve Davis' "Christmas Slay" movie.
