Kenton Gilchrist
Kenton Gilchrist is a composer for film, television, and new media, currently residing in Vancouver, Canada - "Hollywood North". Deftly combining classical orchestration with a variety of metal, tribal, and electronic genres, Kenton is most at home creating full, modern sounding musical compositions in the contemporary styles of great composers such as Hans Zimmer, Danny Elfman, and James Newton Howard.
Kenton was classically trained in piano from the young age of four, but broke from his classical routes for a number of years out of high school, fronting the critically acclaimed progressive rock band Portal, and producing albums for a number of rock and metal bands. While his rock music production often betrayed the fact that he never forgot his classical roots, it can also be said that his film compositions showcase his affinity for more contemporary genres.
In 2008, Kenton turned his attention back to orchestral composition, creating musical scores for a handful of short films and a number of high profile advertising campaigns for the 2012 Olympics, various sporting agencies, hotel chains, and the CBC. In 2010 Kenton composed music for his first full-length documentary, and followed up with his first feature film in 2011, an action movie called Forced to Fight starring Peter Weller and Gary Daniels.
