Udbhavi
Udbhavi Upadhyay is a Mumbai-based writer-director from Central India. Out of all the genres, she fancies dark comedies, psychological thrillers and horror the most but is also adept at family drama. Through her work, she wants to throw light on the harsh realities of the world we live in and expose the complexities of the human mind and emotions.
After graduating from Symbiosis Institute of Media and Communications, she worked with Times Group as a lifestyle photojournalist for two years and then with TEDxGateway in the Content department. She directed and wrote 2 documentaries- one on the Mega Mess of SIU and the other one was for Students For Free Tibet, McLeodGanj.
During lockdown, she did a course in web series writing course from Whistling Woods, headed by Mrs Sweksha Bhagat. And later on went on to work on a web series concept in a writer's room with one of her mentors itself. She has been a part of several writer's rooms.
Her short films Trishna Jhanak, and Chuppi have received national and international awards and nominations by Indo-Singapore International Film Festival, Pune Short Film Festival, Golden Sparrow International Film Festival, Urruvati International Film Festival, Kalakaari Film Festival and more. Trishna was also had a physical screening in Pune, and received a lot of love from the audience members.
Her pilot for a mystery-horror web series called 'Sapan Haveli' ranked Top 16% on Coverfly and was a Quarterfinalist in the TSL Annual Screenplay Competition.
