Uppekha Jain
Uppekha Jain is a Canadian Actress, former Miss India-Worldwide, Choreographer/Dancer & Spoken-Word Artist in both the Canadian and the Indian entertainment industries. She is most widely known for her work on India's no.1 prime-time, daily soap-opera "Saath Nibhana Saathiya" on the Star Plus channel. She essayed the role of conniving and sultry Monika Modi, a daughter-in-law of the matriarch-run family, bent on wreaking havoc in the lives of her holier-than-thou elders and counterparts.
Though born in India, Uppekha's parents migrated to Toronto, Canada before her first birthday. She grew up in and around the GTA and was always encouraged into the arts. She began her formal dance training at the age of 5 and went on to become a Company A Dancer for Toronto's prestigious Sampradaya Dance Creations, one of two South-Asian dance companies recognized by the Canadian Government. As a dancer Uppekha has performed on the Revealed By Fire Tour (2001-2002) across North America and India, in addition to many local productions at Toronto's renowned Premier Dance Theater.
Uppekha completed her Bachelor's of Business Administration degree from Wilfrid Laurier University and went straight into the corporate world as as Associate Brand Manager of Chocolate for Cadbury Adams Canada. Her love for the arts and performing however, never left her side. While working at Cadbury, Uppekha would audition part-time and landed a role on Mike Myer's The Love Guru (2008). She soon after won the Miss India Worldwide Canada pageant and within a few months of winning the Miss India Worldwide '08 title in South Africa, she quit her corporate job and decided to move to Mumbai, India to explore the bustling entertainment industry.
While in Mumbai, Uppekha worked in various live theater productions including Eve Ensler's Emotional Creature and various other local productions. About 30 ads and 3 films later, Uppekha landed the role on "Saath Nibhana Saathiya" in 2016. She was a principle cast member from 2016-2017.
Uppekha can now be seen in Phil Trail's No Sleep Until Christmas, releasing on Christmas Day 2018.
