Wayne Slaten is an American independent movie director, screenwriter and producer. He began developing and directing short film projects under the shingle Moonlite Filmwerks in 2007. Slaten wrote and directed his first feature length movie Backroad in 2010. His film Cold War was selected as part of an international short film competition to screen at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival and later that year his script Patriot Act (later titled Dropa) was a quarterfinalist in the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Nicholl Fellowships in Screenwriting competition. Slaten directed the spy-thriller Osprey followed by the short film Red Pearl which screened aboard the International Space Station and went on to win the NASA Jury Award at the CineSpace Film Festival before airing on PBS in 2016. Through F.64 Films Slaten directed the artist documentary Ash: The Art of Wayne Gilbert along with the sci-fi feature film Dropa which aired on Showtime and The Movie Channel.
