Anupam Sharma is a filmmaker, speaker and author with a Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Films &Theatre, and a post-graduate thesis on Indian cinema from University of NSW. Named as one of the fifty most powerful & influential Australian film professionals by Encore magazine, he is the founding head of films & casting TEMPLE, one of the most prolific and award winning international production & consultancy firm based out of Fox-Studios - Sydney Anupam was founding head of AI Film Fund (2013-16) which was based on his idea of alternative funding for diverse Australian films. As part of TEMPLE, worshipping cinema, Anupam leads a team of film professionals, who have worked on more than 264 projects between Australia and India, Denmark, USA, & China, including feature films, television serials, music videos, television commercials, as well as film festivals. He returned to directing after winning a commission round by Australian National Maritime Museum and directed a short documentary Indian Aussies - Terms & Conditions Apply, which was installed in the museum for over two months and also nominated for awards around the world. Destination NSW then hired Anupam as the Creative Director for their most ambitious and high budgeted TV campaign for India. He directed 4 TVCs for this campaign and has been contracted to direct two more after the success of the ads in India. Anupam then directed the much-publicized romantic comedy unINDIAN, starring Australian cricketer Brett Lee and internationally acclaimed actress Tannishtha Chatterjee. The film premiered at Montreal World Film Festival and screened at Antipodes at Cannes in 2016. Anupam is currently (October 2018) in pre pre for his thriller feature film in Victoria . Titled 'Honour' the film is based with the backdrop of the domestic violence and dowry death cases in Melbourne and is being produced by Jannine Barnes (Downriver - Toronto Film Festival). He is production (October 2018) of his feature length Australian documentary Bollywood Downunder with an international aka Global Bollywood. In 2011 Anupam launched the Australian Film Initiative to market and promote Australian screen culture in non-traditional markets, resulting in India's first annual Australian Film Festival with support from Hugh Jackman in 2011, a Baz Luhrmann retrospective in 2012/2013, and Phillip Noyce retrospective in 14-15. Anupam has advised many government and private bodies in relation to Indian films, including Baz Luhrman's Moulin Rouge, Channel Seven, the Department of Foreign Affairs (Australia), and World Movies among others. In 2012 he was the chief judge and advisor to the first India centric Australian reality television show on SBS - Bollywood Star. With a high social media following, Anupam is a respected commentator and frequent speaker at various conferences and on television programs including the ABC, the NINE Network, SBS TV, SPAA, Art Gallery of NSW, and the POWERHOUSE Museum. Anupam Sharma was honoured to be an Australia Day Ambassador seven years in a row, and was one of the thirteen young professionals shortlisted in the prestigious 'Face To Watch' series by The (SYDNEY) Magazine.
