Known to many as "Chance", Curtis Morgan was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada (along with his twin brother, Chris) to Andrew Morgan, a school district superintendent and Monica Morgan, a Vice-Principal, both of Trinidadian descent. At a young age, Curtis had the performance bug in him. On long family road trips, he would entertain himself by singing every note to whatever music was being played... from ABBA, to Peter Tosh, to Bob Marley, to old time Calypsos -- every lick and every ad-lib was mastered. Those long rides are where Curtis discovered and nurtured his love of popular music and R&B. In high school, he formed a dance troupe that performed lip syncs in talent shows to New Edition and Bobby Brown songs. That troupe morphed into an acapella singing group that performed songs by Boyz II Men, Shai, and other groups. As Curtis got older, and his voice changed, his love of singing had to become secondary. Despite not being as proficient vocally, he still felt a need to perform. In early 2000, a couple of friends suggested he enter MuchMusic's VJ Search. He took a video camera out for a day, and spent the next three days teaching himself how to edit the footage. When he was finished he submitted his video entry minutes before the deadline. Out of 1500 entrants, his video was chosen along with six others. He competed live in front of 10 million viewers across Canada to be MuchMusic's next video jockey. When asked if he was nervous, he often answers that being in front of those cameras oddly made him feel the most comfortable that he had ever been. Although he didn't win, he made quite an impression. Later that year, MuchMusic called to invite him to join the cast of their new reality-based, cross-Canada trek show called "6 Canadians on A Bus" (the other 5 Canadians had to enter a contest to be chosen). 69 days and nights on a bus from the East coast of Canada to the West, all while being filmed. Once that show wrapped, Curtis decided he wanted to know more about the television and film industry, so he enrolled in a Bachelor's Degree program in Radio & Television Arts at Ryerson University in Toronto. Upon graduating, he auditioned for a supporting role in Sidney J. Furie's (Lady Sings The Blues, Superman IV: A Quest For Peace) new film, "American Soldiers". After Sidney saw his read for the supporting character, he immediately offered him the lead role. Curtis' performance in the lead role in his first feature film led him to many other projects like "The Four Horsemen" and "Conduct Unbecoming". Curtis "Chance" Morgan is leaving his mark in the acting industry as his career marks 20 years and counting. His performance as "Pangborn" in Disney-ABC/Netflix's production of "Shadowhunters" made him a beloved part of the popular fandom. He has appeared in other shows like "Fatal Vows" (playing a murderous husband), "Zahara: The Return" (playing a 500 year old vampire love interest to an immortal) and several others. He has two movies set for release in 2022, "The Apprentice" (in which he co-stars with young up-start, Chase Lawless) and "Bordello" (a Western where he plays a barkeep in a troubled town). Recently, he has expanded his repertoire to include voice work. He has several commercials running on national and provincial television and radio stations. He has voiced spots for major corporate clients like RBC, Honda, & Lyft. Curtis has found multiple ways to entertain audiences. On the topic, he simply states, "See, this right here? This.... is what I do." Whether it be singing, dancing, acting, or voice work, according to a quote from one of his recent acting coaches, he just has... "something. As an actor, [he] has really, really strong instincts." It seems clear, Curtis "Chance" Morgan's star is rising, he has only just begun to shine.
