Gregg Berhalter was born on August 1, 1973 in Englewood, New Jersey, USA. He is married to Rosalind Berhalter. They have four children.
Gregg is a native of Topeka, Kansas and a graduate of the University of Kansas. He has worked in films with many directors including Mel Brooks, Woody Allen, Clint Eastwood and the Coen Brothers, and he has steadily worked in television for over 30 years. He was discovered by many industry people while waiting tables at the Beverly Hills 50's diner Ed Debevics where he walked around visiting with customers as the restaurant's supposed security guard, Barney Fife. Rick Dees saw him there and put him on his late night show, "Into the Night with Rick Dees". Gregg was a series regular for the one year run of the show. He later starred as Harold Skolnick in the films Revenge of the Nerds 3 and 4. He was cast in those projects because he was remembered by the director who had been a regular customer at Ed Debevics. Gregg continued to work steadily in film and television before being cast as Dan the Del Taco guy in the very popular advertising campaign that lasted six years and covered 58 television commercials and many more radio commercials and personal appearances. During that time he also played Don Knotts in the NBC Movie of the Week: "Behind the Scenes of Three's Company". Don Knotts sat with Gregg at the premiere of the film and praised him for his performance. Later, Gregg was cast as Kenny James in the pilot episode of the NBC hit show, "My Name is Earl". Kenny was the first person Earl crossed off his list, and the episode was so well regarded that Emmys were won by the writer (Greg Garcia) the director (Marc Buckland) and casting director (Dave Waite). Gregg went on to play Kenny in 20 episodes. Two years later he was cast as a series regular on the FOX hit show, "Raising Hope." Gregg played the grocery store manager Barney Hughes, and he appeared in 71 episodes during the four year run of the show. Gregg lives in Los Angeles with his wife and three children.
