Born and raised in the Bronx, and spent most of his formative years hanging out in New York City, Kirk Acevedo, who is of Puerto Rican descent, received his BFA from SUNY Purchase and founded a theater company called The Rorschach Group. After guest-starring on several television shows like New York Undercover (1994) and Law & Order (1990), he landed his best-known role as Alvarez, a morose and violent prisoner struggling for redemption on HBO's notoriously gritty Oz (1997). Though he was nominated for a Cable Ace award and an ALMA award for his work on Oz (1997), it was Acevedo's role as Pvt. Tella in The Thin Red Line (1998) that won him an ALMA.
Starting his show business career as a chorus boy on Broadway and an entertainer in vaudeville, Kirk Alyn played bit parts and minor supporting roles in several low-budget films before getting his big break playing the title role in the serial Superman (1948). He wasn't able to sustain a film career after the serial ended, however, and after small parts in a few movies, retired to Arizona.

Kirk Bowett is a limbless ex-serviceman who served 16 years in his County Regiment The 22nd Cheshire Regiment, subsequently 1st Battalion the Mercian Regiment. His military service took him globally and he has served on operations in Northern Ireland, The Middle East and Africa. On leaving the Army, Kirk returned to the Iraq as a private security consultant to assist the UK and US governments in their post conflict reconstruction mission. In the summer of 2013 and whilst conducting high risk security operations, the vehicle in which Kirk was traveling was hit by a blast resulting in its destruction and the death of his colleague and driver Edan. As a result Kirk received serious life changing injuries including the loss of left forearm. After a long recovery Kirk has had the unique privilege of becoming a member of The British Limbless Ex Serviceman's Association BLESMA. Since recovering from his injuries Kirk has taken his combined 20 years of operational experience and focused on a new and varied career path. In September of 2018 Kirk joined the British Forces Broadcasting Service BFBS to study creative media with the 2018/19 Forces Media Academy. Also a new found passion in acting has led to roles as a supporting artist and actor in some major new feature films and box sets which include Wonder woman, The Crown, War Machine, Dunkirk, Rogue One and many others. Kirk has found real fulfillment recreating the experience and history of injured service personnel through Film, TV and theater. Kirk has a young family including Tillie (5) and Bertie (2). In his spare time Kirk enjoys travel and active adventure including walking, mountain biking and skiing. Kirk also enjoys representing and fundraising for BLESMA the limbless veterans, which allows him to give back to a charity that has helped him in his ongoing recovery In the summer of 2018 Kirk joined 26 fellow BLESMA limbless veterans to perform in the Graeae Theatre Companies This Is Not For You. The play took experiences of limbless veterans and described to the general public the BLESMA journey from its founding roots of post WW1 Britain to the present day struggles of modern day wounded veterans.
