Kathryn was born and raised in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. She began dancing ballet at the age of three and quickly got the bug for performance. Shortly after completing theatre school Kathryn was cast as Tatiana Maslany's acting double on SPACE/BBC America's "Orphan Black" and went on to work with Tatiana on all five seasons. Other credits include CTV's "Cardinal" and ABC's "Designated Survivor".

Kathryn Beck was born in Queensland, Australia in 1986. She has always wanted to be an actor ever since she was young, and grew up watching films such as "My Girl" and wishing she was in it. She studied drama at the Queensland University of Technology, graduating in August of 2006. In 2007 she had a guest role for a number of episodes in the Australian drama, "Home and Away", where she played the character Lily Nelson. Most recently she appeared in ABC TV's six-part drama series, "East of Everything", playing an endearing optimist by the name of Lizzy, opposite Australian acting heavyweights Tom Long, Gia Carides, Steve Bisley and Richard Roxburgh. In 2007, ignoring her father's pleas to become a drama teacher, she relocated from Brisbane to Sydney to pursue an acting career. She has recently been cast in the Australian film, "Subdivision", co-starring Bryan Brown.

A very talented painter, Kathryn spent two years at the San Francisco Art Institute. At 20, she won a scholarship to the Whitney Museum's Independent Study Program. She was given a studio in a former Offtrack Betting building, literally in an old bank vault, where she made art and waited to be critiqued by people like Richard Serra, Robert Rauschenberg and Susan Sontag. Later she earned a scholarship to study film at Columbia University School of Arts, graduating in 1979. She was also a member of the British avant garde cultural group, Art and Language. Kathryn is the only child of the manager of a paint factory and a librarian.
