Since graduating from the Danish National Theatre School in Copenhagen in 2002, Laura has achieved recognition for her work on both stage and screen. Recently she was co-recipient of the Natsværmer (Moth) Award at the Copenhagen Night Film Festival 2005 along with her brother, Nicolas. In 2004, Laura was nominated for a TV Zulu Award for `Best Supporting Actress' as Ditte in Susanne Bier's critically acclaimed film Brødre (Brothers). In 2003, she was honoured with both the Reumert Talent Award for Theatre and the Prince Henriks of Denmark Arts Award. She found passion in the sports world, directing Deal With the Devil about groundbreaking boxer Christy Martin as part of the critically acclaimed Netflix anthology series Untold with the Way Brothers as Executive Producers. Her passion project The House Band produced by Ross Dinerstein at Campfire is in its final stages and promises to make its premiere in 2023. Brownson's documentary feature debut LEMON about spoken word artist Lemon Andersen, was produced by Impact Partners and had its U.S. premiere at DOCNYC where it won a special jury prize. The film went on to screen at over 50 film festivals worldwide, winning multiple jury prizes and was broadcast on PBS. Laura Brunkala was born and raised in Cleveland, OH, and attended Brush High School where she was highly active in the drama department and took a play to Ohio's State Theater Competition. She attended Miami University (OH) where she quickly got involved in the film department and starred in a feature for the first time. After starring in her first film she stayed highly involved in the film department and took part in many other productions.During her junior year at Miami, they hosted a film festival where the feature debuted; she met many influential filmmakers from around the globe and was inspired to move to Los Angeles to pursue a career in acting and film making. After graduating from Miami in 2008, Laura moved to Los Angeles, where she has acted in several commercials, starred in a pilot for Discovery Science, and acted in several professional productions. In 2012, she took on the challenge of writing, directing, and producing her first short, "Messy is Perfect." which was completed in 2013. After seeing her work, other filmmakers began to approach Laura to direct their projects. Laura found she had a natural inclination for directing and began taking on additional projects on the production side of the industry.
