At the age of three she was enrolled at the Royal Academy of Dancing in Munich, where she trained in Ballet for the following 16 years and gained her first stage performances. At the age of six she began to attend an elementary school in Hamburg, where she had her debut catwalk show for Oillily - her family at this point living between two homes, one in the North and one in the South of Germany. During this time she also belonged to her school theatre group, performing in between her Ballet exams. Sybille began her professional modeling career aged seventeen, with a campaign for Gai Mattiolo. In the years to follow she lived between Paris, New York, Milan and London, and traveled globally modeling for designers such as; Stella McCartney, Zac Posen, Jil Sander, Renzo Rossi (Diesel); and for photographers such as; Rankin, Mario Testino and Stuart Shining. Having been cast in a variety of television Commercials internationally, such as in the recent futuristic 'Spec-Savers' ad, she moved into film acting in 2003 when she was cast in the pilot-movie for the film Joy Division. She went onto co-star in the feature film production which was produced 2 years later. In 2001, Sybille trained at the central school of Speech and Drama in London (Shakespeare and contemporary). She then went onto study the Meissner technique and was at this time voiced coached by Julia Wilson Dickenson. Sybille is also qualified in the Wing-Chung martial art. In 2006 she was awarded with an international certificate allowing her to teach Yoga - as she had passed the Silvananda Teacher Training course, since beginning Yoga classes herself back in 2000.

The enigmatic actress remains one of the most interesting figures in German film. Although she achieved stardom early in her career, the tragic Sybille Schmitz could never fit in with her surroundings. Too "alien looking" for Hollywood, Schmitz never migrated to America like her more glamorous peers and began losing roles in her native Germany as well due to her vaguely Semitic appearance and ties to the Jewish community. After the war, like many former UFA stars, Sybille was seen as a painful reminder of the Third Reich and she was once more displaced by the optimistic "new look" actresses. With acting being her sole reason to thrive, Sybille Schmitz began to drink heavily and rely on drugs as her career sank lower and lower. She finally committed suicide under mysterious circumstances on April 13, 1955, while being "cared for" by a corrupt lesbian doctor she was living with at the time of her death.
