Tammy Taz Diaz is an American actress, singer, filmmaker and screenwriter primarily active in the indie arena. She was born in Garland, TX but, thanks to a nomad-like dad and work assignments, has lived in nearly every state along the southwest coast. She has been an active member of the Houston Film Society and often volunteers her time and skills to help make local film projects happen. Taz, as most of her friends call her, got her first taste of the industry with a walk-on in the 70's era "Mr. Peppermint's Place" filmed in Dallas, TX. As a child, she occasionally was allowed to audition for local TV, film and advertising roles, but spent most of her youth on stage. In her younger years, she was often type-cast as the pretty-girl-love-interest but recognized for her character performances, such as earning "All Star Cast" awards for her role as the baby Tommy in Thornton Wilder's "Infancy." She often lends her voice to student projects and independent artists' animations and video games. She fronted a few local cover pop/rock bands until the demands of single parenthood took priority. Her vocal style blends hip hop and light rock, but she can also sing opera and Broadway music. She performs out of a passion for creativity and love for the art, often contributing to projects without credit. If she looks familiar and you just can't remember why, now you know. Thanks to her tech background, she is also a talented post-production editor and FX artist.
