William Holden was born William Franklin Beedle, Jr. in O'Fallon, Illinois, to Mary Blanche (Ball), a schoolteacher, and William Franklin Beedle, Sr., an industrial chemist. He came from a wealthy family (the Beedles) that moved to Pasadena, California, when he was three. In 1937, while studying chemistry at Pasadena Junior College, he was signed to a film contract by Paramount. His first starring role was as a young man torn between the violin and boxing in Golden Boy (1939). From then on he was typecast as the boy-next-door. After returning from World War II military service, he got two very important roles: Joe Gillis, the gigolo, in Sunset Blvd. (1950), and the tutor in Born Yesterday (1950). These were followed by his Oscar-winning role as the cynical sergeant in Stalag 17 (1953). He stayed popular through the 1950s, appearing in such films as Picnic (1955). He spent much of his later time as co-owner of the Mount Kenya Safari Club, dividing his time between Africa and Switzerland.

Will also produced and starred in his debut full length theatre piece as a playwright and as one half of 'Swaggering Crow', which received full Arts Council funding and was a commercial, critical and community success. He has worked with Gabriel Gawin, Helena Kaut Howson, Peter Clough. He was also nominated for the BBC Carlton Hobbs Radio Award for MST. Previous stage credits include Mellors in Lady Chatterly's Lover, Jack in Dancing at Lughnasa and Graham in Cleansed. A fan of all things absurd, Comedy and cats."

Born in Montreal, William Hope joined the National Youth Theatre in London after high school and performed for three seasons with them. During that time he began training at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA). After graduation he worked almost uninterruptedly in theatre for the next seven years, in addition to over 100 radio plays for the BBC as a resident artist. In the mid 80's he was offered a major role in Stanley Kubrick's "Full Metal Jacket" but passed on it for a lead in James Cameron's Aliens (1986) as Lt. Gorman. The next ten years saw him regularly playing leading roles in many major regional, touring and West End companies, often living in London as a base for family, while he began working more extensively in front of the camera. The last five years, has seen him appearing in a wide mix of film and TV. His career to date includes art and indie films, mainstream international TV and numerous major Hollywood movies. This year will see him guest-starring in possibly the last series of "Spooks" (MI-5), performing alongside David Thewlis in Luc Besson's "The Lady", with Rachel Weisz in "The WhistleBlower" and Johnny Depp in Tim Burton's "Dark Shadows".
