Yvonne Chan, MD, PhD is a Chinese-American actor, ER doctor, and research scientist. After retiring from her previous career in medicine and science, she pursued acting full time and has appeared in many films, TV shows, commercials, and print campaigns. Yvonne (Yu-Feng) was born in Pingtung County, Taiwan and is of Northeast Chinese and Hakka Taiwanese decent. Her family immigrated to the US when she was 8 years old. She always had a love for the performing arts. Her fondest early childhood memories include buying a beautiful white dress for her Pre-K singing and dancing recital, drawing portraits, and being lost in her own thoughts and imaginary world of make-believe. During her formative years growing up in an immigrant family, Yvonne learned to view the world through very practical eyes. At that time, she was fascinated by the sciences, excelled in her schoolwork, and set a personal goal to contribute to her community with a positive impact. She became the first medical doctor and the first female PhD scientist in her family. In addition to working as an ER doctor in large hospitals in the NYC metro area, Yvonne was also the founding Director of the Center for Digital Health at a renowned medical school in NYC as well as the Senior Director for Digital Medicine at a global pharmaceutical company. After achieving notable career success in the fields of medicine and science, Yvonne was ready for her "second act" as an actor, at the best of times in many ways. She intends to draw upon all her prior experience, thoughts, emotions to bring authenticity to not just AAPI stories, but to proudly represent all the voices that may not have had the opportunity to be clearly heard and understood. Yvonne strongly believes that the entertainment industry, with its highly influential creative mediums, acts as our society's most awe-inspiring and effective agent of change. She considers it to be an honor and privilege to work with other like-minded creatives to leverage its power to heal, comfort, promote understanding, and positively impact the world.
