Kate Szekely
Kate Szekely is an American actress, producer and teacher. Born and raised in south Detroit, Kate's formative years were spent around her family, an eclectic Eastern European blend of Polish farmers and Hungarian gypsies. Blending the work ethic of the Poles and the passion of the Gypsies, Kate moved to New York City two weeks after turning 18 to attend New York University's Tisch School of the Arts and the Stella Adler Studio of Acting. She graduated with a BFA in Theater with Honors and immediately dove into the downtown theater and indie film scenes- acting, directing, stage managing, producing. and everything in between.
Kate is deeply invested in the creative process and how it informs a life dedicated to continuous learning. In addition to her acting career, Kate is Resident Producer for Infinite Variety Productions, a women-led NYS 501(c)3 theater company that creates original works of re-imagined documentary theater. She is also Co-Founder and Creative Producer at Salons for Life, an arts and wellness start up. A devotee of mindbody practices, Kate is a NASM-certified Personal Trainer and Corrective Exercise Specialist, and holds an 800-hour Jivamutki Yoga Teacher certification.
In her spare time, you can find Kate training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (she is a four stripe white belt) and hiking down a trail somewhere.
